I've recently started playing on chess.com. I know ICC and FICS have their adherents, but I really like the no-interface option, the correspondence-type games (they do blitz and Random/960, too), and the feeling of community. They also have some IMs and GMs as columnists, including Silman, Serper, and Pruess.
Basic accounts are free but are supported by ads. The ads weren't too annoying, but I liked the features of the premium account so I upgraded. Like Yahoo, the ratings are a bit inflated, but then I don't hang pieces as often when I have days to make a move! Anyone else have an account there? The "Group" feature may be useful to Forum members or for an E-Club. Just a thought. If you haven't been there, give it a try and let me know what you think. +++ dp aka deepmax |
